about

Kartikey Pathak

I'm an electrical engineering student at VJTI, Mumbai (2023–2027, minor in robotics). I've been building robots since my first year and I'm not planning to stop.

The thing I chase is the moment a machine starts working. I don't give up easily — most of my projects have a long list of versions that didn't work before the one you see in the video.

You can genuinely call me at midnight with an idea.

right now

Two things. I spent April to August 2026 in Bangalore as the electronics and hardware engineer at Eyecandy Robotics, drawing the boards inside Piko, a small biped — the awkward one was a power board that had to run 17 motors off one battery.

And my final year project, which is a brushless motor with no iron in it — the stator is just a circuit board. I simulated it before fabricating and found that my own design was giving away 3.3× of its torque, which is the most useful thing a simulation has ever told me.

SRA

Most of my building happens at the Society of Robotics and Automation at VJTI. I run workshops there — embedded C, ESP32, sensor fusion — and mentor juniors building their first robots. We make and sell Wall-E kits; over 200 students have learned on them so far.

not robots

I directed a short film with my friends once — "Plot Se Panga". It won first prize across all branches. Turns out directing a film and debugging a robot are the same job: many takes, one good one.

Also led my branch to a win at Pratibimb, VJTI's cultural fest — first time in 26 years. The results came out on my 19th birthday.

And there's the lab cat. She has her own robot.
